Israeli ships: Anwar's fan club backs PAS Youth call for Port Klang protest

Feb 21: More quarters have said they would join a protest against the docking of yet another Israeli cargo ship in Port Klang tomorrow, and the latest is a fan club dedicated to Opposition Leader Anwar Ibrahim, who was embroiled in a controversy following his interview with the Wall Street Journal last month.
The Anwar Ibrahim Club said in a statement to Harakahdaily that the protest was an expression of solidarity with the Palestinians, as well as to emphasise opposition against any ties with the Zionist regime.
Earlier, PAS Youth said it was calling for a protest in West Port, Port Klang tomorrow at 5.00 pm, in anticipation of the arrival of Zim Europa, a vessel belonging to Israel Corporation headquartered in Tel Aviv.
This followed a revelation by PKR-linked pressure group Jingga 13 that the company's vessels Zim USA and Zim Atlantic had docked at West Port on February 16.
"This action is tantamount to the government of Najib Razak's recognition for the illegal regime of Israel," said AIC secretary Nor Mazli Muhammad.
"The policy being trumpeted by the Malaysian government is a lie both to the world and the Malaysian people. We condemn in the stongest terms the permission for Israeli cargo ships to dock at the country's ports as it puts into suspicion the country's seriousness in opposing the Israeli regime," he added.
Beside PAS Youth and Jingga 13, the Northport workers union and PKR Youth have also backed the gathering tomorrow.
