ANAK alleges rampant bribery in bid to bulldoze through Felda listing plan

Feb 21: National Felda Settlers’ Children Association, or ANAK, today demanded the land development authority’s management to stop their attempt to bribe settlers into agreeing to the controversial plan to enlist Felda Global Ventures Holding (FGVH) in Bursa Malaysia.

The group's chairman Mazlan Aliman said he had received information of rampant bribing activities in Felda settlements, including a circular letter from Felda’s management requesting settlers’ family details for the purpose of shares distribution.

“They are telling the world that settlers will obtain some money from the listing. Settlers are now being offered RM10,000 and some even RM20,000 (to support the listing),” Mazlan alleged.

According to Mazlan, the letter requests a copy of the primary plantation land titles, additional plantation land titles, house titles and a copy of identity card of each family member of settlers to facilitate the listing.

“This violates the procedures because the listing plan is still hanging and has to go through legal process,” said the PAS central committee member.

Mazlan (left) also did not deny that the letter and offers of money may be an attempt by Felda’s management to persuade settlers, adding that a report will be lodged with the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and police tomorrow.

"I hope the management of Felda will retract this letter immediately,” he said.

Earlier, Mazlan handed over the interim injunction granted by the Kuantan High Court to stop Felda's cooperative, Koperasi Permodalan Felda, from disposing off its equity to FGVH to the cooperative ahead of its extraordinary general meeting tomorrow.

Last week, judge Mariana Yahya granted three interim injunctions to eight settlers, which also included the barring of any discussion and decision to be taken on behalf of KPF on the disposal of shares belonging to Felda Holding and its ten subsidiaries to FGVH.
