Feb 22: Pahang PAS has instructed each division in the state to commit 1,000 members to participate in Sunday’s protest in Kuantan against Lynas Advanced Materials Plant (Lamp) in Gebeng.
State commissioner Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said nearby PAS divisions in Kuantan, Pekan, Indera Mahkota and Paya Besar were expected to send strong representation to the gathering at the Kuantan Municipal Council field.
“To PAS, Pakatan Rakyat component parties, NGOs and individuals, please attend to show opposition to the plant which is a time bomb following the temporary license granted by the government," said Tuan Ibrahim.
He also extended invitation to UMNO, saying the issue concerned public interest and safety.
Tuan Ibrahim, also the national information chief, said top party leaders from Pakatan Rakyat, and PAS members from neighbouring Terengganu had pledged their support.
“Students and environmental activists will also be present,” he added.
The protest will be the second after a similar one in Taman Gelora in October last year.
It will kick off at 9.30am concurrently with other gatherings in major towns and cities throughout the country, including Kuala Lumpur.
