PR to launch manifesto on Saturday

Jan 10: Pakatan Rakyat will launch its long awaited common manifesto for the coming general election during its convention in Alor Star this Saturday.
Convention secretariat director Phahrolrazi Zawawi (pic) said the convention bringing together leaders from PAS, PKR and DAP would be held at the Sultan Abdul Halim stadium, and will be followed by a rally in the evening, during which the manifesto will be officially launched.
The rally will begin with a prayer congregation and a religious lecture by PAS's Dr Haron Din, followed by speeches by PR top leaders.
Phahrolrazi, who is also Kedah PAS's deputy commissioner, said some 100,000 people were expected to attend the event which is being held for the third time.
The opening address will be delivered by Kedah Menteri Besar Azizan Abdul Razak, followed by speeches by DAP Youth leader Anthony Loke, PAS secretary general Mustafa Ali and his counterpart from PKR Saifuddin Nasution.
Other personalities include national laureate A. Samad Said, academic Dr Abdul Aziz Bari, as well as representatives from Felda, civil service, NGOs and students organisations.
The convention, themed 'Clean Up Malaysia', will be concluded with speeches by PAS Murshidul Am Tuan Guru Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat, PKR de-facto leader Anwar Ibrahim, DAP chairman Karpal Singh and secretary general Lim Guan Eng, among other top party leaders.
